My Fulbright-Nehru research project:

1)engaged with emerging Adivasi writers whose writing is rooted in their oral traditions.

2) interviewed several educated Adivasis about what stories, idioms, practices, beliefs and

perspectives from their culture resolnated with them;

3) revisited their folk tales as they were written by outsiders, such as my great-great grandfather, Ferdinand Hahn.

4) finding the Rohtasgarh Legend to be one that captivated the imagination of everyone I interviewed, I visited the site and gathered scholars, activists, poets, and storytellers to a two day workshop to discuss the legend.
